Sussex Championships records

Monday, December 15th, 2008

Thanks to Rod Brown of Arundown AC for supplying results from the County Championships for the years 2000 – 2005. These can now be accessed from the Sussex Archery Tournaments page.

We are hoping to archive the results of past Championships – both indoor and outdoor – on this website. If you have the results – in full or even just a list of winners – from the Sussex Championships for 2006, 2007 or any years before 2000, please forward them to the website administrator.

On a similar note, it would be nice to create a record of representative honours awarded to Sussex archers. If that includes you or you know of an archer from Sussex who has represented Great Britain or one of the Home Nations at an international competition, please forward the details to the website administrator.

Junior National Indoor Championships, 6th – 7th December 2008

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

Junior archers from Sussex attended the 2008 Junior National Indoor Championships at Lilleshall on the weekend of 6th – 7th December.

Daniel Phillips of Holbrook Archers scored 561 to claim ninth place in the Junior Gentlemen U-16 Recurve competition, while Hayley Foord of Newhaven AC shot 446 to finish 24th in the Junior Ladies U-16 Recurve.

Hayley’s sister, Vivienne Foord, took 1st place in the Junior Ladies U-14 Barebow competition with a score of 400.  Congratulations and well done, Vivienne.

The Home Nations team competition took place during the first session on Sunday 7th. Representing England for the first time was Thomas Hooper of Bognor Regis AC. His score of 575 was a significant contribution to England’s winning score of 3,351 and also proved good enough to take 3rd place in the Junior Gentlemen U-16 Recurve.  Congratulations on an excellent performance, Thomas.
