Sussex County Trophies & Awards Review

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

At the AGM on 25th January 2009, it was decided that the proposed changes to the trophies and awards should be published together with the existing practice.

The main reasons for the review are to:

  • provide a consistent reference for future tournament organisers
  • accommodate all the different bow types into the scheme
  • review trophies which could be made redundant or reused

Three documents have been prepared which have been reviewed by the SCAA Committee and these are as follows:

The documents give the existing practice and Options for change. Where the Committee has agreed on an Option this is given, otherwise it has been shown as ‘For debate’.

The timetable for review is as follows:

  • 15th May 2009 - All comments on the documents to be received
  • 15th June 2009 – Results published with recommendations

Please can you as a Sussex Archer please comment on these documents either by adding a Comment below or sending your comments to the Chairman by 15th May 2009.

Narrow win for Sussex against Hampshire

Monday, April 27th, 2009

Sussex secured narrow victories in both senior and junior matches against Hampshire on 19th April.

The senior team won by 18,197 to Hampshire’s 18,074, while the junior team score of 10,162 was just enough to beat Hampshire’s 9,966.  Individual scores and a full breakdown of the team results can be viewed using the following links:

Congratulations to everyone who contributed to Sussex’s second consecutive victory against our neighbours on a bitterly cold day,as shown by the number of fleeces and beanies on view in the team photograph.

Thanks to the judges, Keith and Gwen Mills, for braving the weather.  Thanks also to the small team, led by Andrew Holdsworth, who marked up the field for the shoot and acted as field crew on the day.

County Match Sussex v Hampshire 19th April

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

A County match against Hampshire will be held at Falmer High School on the 19th April 2009.

Spectators are welcome and if you need directions here they are:

Coming from the West on the A27

Take the exit for the B2123 at Sussex University and take the signs to the A27 back to Brighton (you are almost doing a U-turn). After about half a mile get into the left hand lane and take the A270 road to Brighton. 300 yards down this road you will see a Bus Stop. Turn left immediately before the Bus Stop – it should be signed with an archery sign – and take the single track under the railway bridge which will bring you straight into the ground.

If you miss this turning go straight on until the next traffic lights and take the first left immediately afterwards. This will be signposted to Falmer School through a housing estate. However, when you go under the bridge turn immediately left into Lucraft Road and go to the end of the road where the school entrance is.
