New County Rankings Table

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

The SCAA Committee have decided to publish the rankings of Sussex archers.

For a trial period of this season, it is proposed that the Records Officer runs a ranking table for all archers who shoot FITA/York/Hereford or Bristol rounds, shot at tournaments.

These Tables will then be used as the primary source of archers performance for county team selection. Scores for the GNAS rounds will be converted to an equivalent FITA score using the handicap tables. FITA & equivalent FITA scores will be used to determine the total of each archer’s best three rounds.

Tables will be run for Ladies, Gentlemen, Junior Ladies & Junior Gentlemen in the following categories: Recurve, Compound Unlimited, Barebow & Longbow.

Junior archers are eligible for consideration for the Senior team but must submit scores for their respective senior rounds.

Whereas the rankings tables will form the prime basis of the county team selection, the selectors reserve the right to consider other factors as necessary.

Each individual archer is responsible for submitting their scores to the County Records Officer.

These tables will be updated regularly.

Any queries to the Records Officer

Sussex Archers Individual and Team Winners at Cheshire FITA Clout

Sunday, May 10th, 2009

Cheshire is the very Heartland of Clout archery, and their County May Day Bank Holiday FITA Clout was the first ever FITA Tassel Award shoot, and so was also their largest-ever shoot with entry numbers approaching the size of the Nationals.

Liz Bowyer, Jon Stafford and Russ French showed their National Recurve Clout Team win last October wasn’t a flash in the pan by beating last year’s Cheshire FITA champions Stalybridge by one point to take the Team award home with an aggregate score of 900.  Jon was also the highest scoring recurve Gent with new Sussex County Single and Double Round scores, and Liz was First Visitor and Third Lady Recurve overall, with a new Sussex Double Round record score.

Individual Results for the shoot may be seen here

It was very cold and gloomy with a strong wind and occasional rain – hence Liz’s wet-weather gear in the picture below – if you look carefully you can see her arrow heading down-range.
