County Match vs Hampshire May 2013
The annual match between Sussex and Hampshire was held on Sunday 5th May 2013 at Hazelwick School, Crawley.
Firstly we would like to thank our Judge Roger McMullen, for his sterling work during the day, and all those who assisted in any way both on Saturday and Sunday, to ensure the shoot ran smoothly. Thanks to the co-operation of the archers, all equipment was returned to the storage area very quickly – which was greatly appreciated. Special thanks to the Catering team who kept us fed and watered during the day. Thank you too to the Team Managers who worked hard prior to the match.
The day was warm and sunny, little bit overcast but not too much! And a light wind. Such a change from all the wet weather last year!
This was a record status shoot, and Hampshire Junior Kathryn Bolton of Waterside Archers shot extremely well, and has claimed a UK Record shooting Barebow. Her Score was a massive 1126 – so very well done Kathryn. This has still to be ratified.
4 Six Gold ends and one 3 gold ends were made, together with 8 Rose Award Claims have been sent in. All these claims were made by Hampshire archers – so well done Hampshire!!!
Congratulations to everyone on the very high standard that was achieved by all archers at this match.
The final result was a win for Hampshire 23314, Sussex 21457.

The Senior Recurve and Compound teams really battled it out all day – at one stage the compound teams were having a right battle royal with just four points in it at the end. The recurve teams also fought hard, with Hampshire pulling ahead by 26 points.
All in all a very pleasant day, and we look forward to a return match at Hampshire next year.
Good shooting for the rest of the season.
Doreen Cannon, Senior Team Manager.
