All British & Open Field Championships 2009

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

Kingsbury Company of Archers is hosting the All British and Open Field Championships this year on 23rd/24th May.  These championships will take place on the farm of Geoff and Elaine Marshall in Rotherfield near Crowborough in East Sussex.

Kingsbury Company of Archers was formed solely for the purpose of running an Annual Field Shoot on the land generously offered by Geoff and Elaine and this has been the venue of the SCAS Individual and Inter-county Field Championships for several years. We are a small number of enthusiastic field archers and help is needed from a good many more like-minded volunteers to be able to run an event as large as the All British in a way that the participants will enjoy and that reflects well on the SCAS region.

It will be a great help to us to have your participation to assist in putting up more than 50 target butts on Saturday 2nd May and Sunday 3rd May.  Those of you who wish to shoot in the event can still help with this activity, the setting of distances for these targets will be done at a later date.

There may also be work to be done on Sunday 17th May, the details of this will be known by the end of the first work week-end on 2nd/3rd May.

Some more help will be needed on the shoot days so this will be by those amongst us who are prepared to forego our shooting for some or all of the week-end of 23rd/24th May.

Finally help to take down the course on Sun 31st May is also needed.

Please get in touch with us if you can give your time on any of these dates and we can give you more details.

Thanks you very much for considering helping with the Championship, we look forward to hearing from you.

Field Archery Opportunity

Monday, March 9th, 2009

In 2008 Friars Gate Archers were fortunate to acquire Lottery Funding that enabled us to rent for 12 months a superb Field Archery Venue at Eastlands Wood just outside Fletching East Sussex.  Heavily wooded with several large lakes local archers may well have experienced this 50 acre venue through the two open shoots FGA held in May & August last year.

The Club has funded directly the Venue for a second year though its future rests on our ability to market the facilities to other local archery clubs.  To facilitate such we have established a Field Archery Associate Membership Status which enables other GNAS registered archers to participate in both our Fletching and Friars Gate Farm shoots.  Associate status also includes free entry to the Two Open Field shoots held each year the first of which is scheduled for May 10th 2009.

  • Associate Membership Fees:
  • Seniors £30.00 per year
  • Juniors £18.00 per year

FGA Financial Year 1st October to 30th September – partial years membership pro-rata.

Full details of the Associate membership can be obtained from our web site at  www.friarsgatearchers.com This includes a calendar of shooting days at Fletching.  Our Friars Gate Farm facility is available from October through to March.
