Sussex Win County Match against Hampshire 2775 to 2678
This year’s inter-county match was incorporated into the Andover Saxon Shoot, and the weather was so awful the shoot was abandoned after six dozen. None of the Sussex Team retired.
To the Team: thank you all so much for turning up and supporting Sussex against our arch rivals Hampshire! We managed to beat them despite the weather, and the Team Manager would like to congratulate you all on good scores despite the wind and rain.
Sussex archers also did remarkably well in the Saxon tournament itself

Several of the Hants team retired, so the teams were adjusted accordingly. Our match scores were as follows:
Recurve:
Mandy Linn 380; Gavin Sutherland 333; Gerry Deake 320 and Stella Wilson 285
making a total of                   1318 – Hampshire    1456
Compound (2 only as Hants only had 2  left):
Linda Palmer 478; Terry Maskell 472
– total                                    950 – Hampshire     799
Our two other team members were Phil Adams 470 and Stephen Allen 444.
Barebow (2) as we were short by one:

making a total of                 390 – Hampshire      356
Longbow:
Marilyn Dewar 62; Liz Bowyer 55

Saxon Tournament Placings – Ladies:  Linda came lst compound; Mandy was 3rd recurve Ladies Longbow Marilyn 1st and Liz 2nd. Gents Compound Terry was 2nd and Phil was third. Phil Reay was lst Barebow and Steve 2nd.  And Gerry won a colour prize!!!!!!!
