Team Selection Policy

The Sussex CAA Team Selection Policy provides archers and selectors alike with clear guidelines on the method of team selection for matches with other counties and the SCAS Senior and Junior Inter-Counties Championships.

The Policy is designed to encourage Sussex archers to strive for selection to the County team. It also enables them to set clear goals in order to achieve selection.

  1. The Selection Committee will normally include the County Team Manager and the County Records Officer. The County Coaching Officer may be asked to provide information when considered appropriate.
  2. The County Rankings will provide the prime source of information for the selectors. Archers who wish to be considered should submit scores using the Form in the Documents Library. Normally the team will be selected in current rank order. At the discretion of the Selection Committee, there may be exceptions to this practice. The exceptions may be, but are not necessarily limited to, a recent significant change of an archer’s form or the inclusion of a known, talented archer who has otherwise not completed the ranking requirements. Any archer affected by the exercise of this discretion will be notified by the Team Manager.
  3. Selected archers shall receive an invitation to the team not later than six weeks prior to the shoot. They should confirm the offer within two weeks. Failure to do so may result in substitution.
  4. Junior archers may be selected for the senior team, but they must produce ranking scores for their respective senior rounds.
  5. The Team Manager will have the final decision in all matters of team selection.

Team Clothing

Sussex CAA polo shirts can be purchased when you have been selected to represent the Sussex archery team. You may also purchase a red fleece when you have shot three times for the County.

These items are available from the Senior and Junior Team captains.

The first time that you are selected to represent Sussex, you will receive a County Team Flash and a certificate at the AGM. A certificate is then awarded for each successive year.

When selected to represent Sussex at the SCAS Intercounties Team Tournament, you will receive a pin badge and year bar. A year bar is then awarded for each successive year.
